More than half of daily dry waste that is generated in Aurangabad consists of problematic plastics. Without formal waste management systems, much of this ends up as plastic pollution. Low-value, soft plastic packaging waste often finds its into the environment, dumpsites, or overflowing, hazardous landfills.

Waste Warrior - Asha Moolya

Asha Moolya, once burdened by the long hours and limited staff at Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) in the Nitte Grama panchayat, found a lifeline when she decided to join Project Anmol Kinara in Udupi. Her previous job had her working long hours with no holidays which often resulted in spending limited time with her family.  After joining rePurpose Global’s Project Anmol Kinara she had the opportunity to find a job with reasonable hours allowing her to balance work and family. “My role [with the project] has given me a chance to earn more money to support my husband and improve our quality of life while also being able to spend more quality time with my family.”
